22 May Time for Family
It’s a day for relaxing with the windows open and the ocean breeze coming in. Lots of sunshine to warm the soul and create smiles on the kids. Time to dream a little, let Kimberly take a mid-day nap, and pack-up the car for a sunset beach walk. And, until then.. I plan.
I’m a big planner. I like to plan 6 months out.
I’m looking forward to spending 2 weeks over Christmas in DC and Virginia with my family. I think it’s been 5 years since I’ve spent the holidays with my brother and his family, and 10+ with my dad and his family. Long time. I miss the holidays with my family.
It’s crazy how busy we all get in life. Isn’t it?
The reality when we have families spread out all over the world is how many times we will actually see them in the course of our lifetime. My brother and I are in our 40s. We see each other once a year. That means, if we live to be 80, then we will only see each other 40 more times – ever. That kinda sucks, doesn’t it? At least, we are in our 40s, it will be less time with my parents, and other friends I only see occasionally.
So while life as we know it in earth in the present is limited – it does allow us to choose. Choose what we do, when we want to do it, and with who.
That is empowering.
Time to call some family and friends.
Have a great weekend with those you love.
