22 May An e-mail to my LinkedIn List
I sent this email out this morning to my LinkedIn list and got an incredible response. Incredible. No. F’n Incredible.
For many reasons… from old contacts so excited about reconnecting to new opportunities to vacations on yachts to things that I would share if we got together over drinks. Haha.
Feel free to reword it for your purpose.
This is how to clean out your LinkedIn and other social networking list and create new opportunities. Both personal and business.
My intention was merely to create REAL relationships. Not a social number with someone I never talk to…
Let me know what you think.
You are one of the 1833 people I am connected to on LinkedIn
Body of Email:
I’ve decided to use my social networks more effectively and I’ve downloaded all of my connections.
You are one of the 1833 people I am connected to on LinkedIn. Wow, huh? And I’ve probably only met a few hundred of you in person.
What’s the value you place on a LinkedIn connection? It’s really hard to gauge that without knowing the person right?
So here is my request. If you would like to know me a little better, will you reply back to this email by next Monday with a simple YES?
If you do, I’m gonna reach out to you and setup a 30 minute phone or Skype call so we can learn more about how we can help each other. It’s the purpose of a social network.
If you do not replay back by this Friday with a Yes, and that’s totally cool, I’ll have my assistant remove you from my connections on LinkedIn. No need to have a list of connections with no purpose, right? (You might even try this with your connections.)
Thank you everyone for reading and responding to this.
Best of luck in all that you do.
John Wayne Zimmerman
P.S. You are not on an email list. I just wanted to personally email you and see if you wanted to stay connected on LinkedIn.
P.S.S. If you don’t remember who I am or how we are connected…
Here’s my story…
Two years ago, I quit my corporate job after 18 years in marketing (ConAgra, HFMA) and stepped into my own marketing agency full time (http://www.wearesocialexperts.com/). My 6-figure income was fully replaced and I moved to a beach house in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. I wrote one of the first Facebook Marketing books and became a published author with Penguin Random House. I spoke at national and international conferences around the world.
Professionally, I still run the agency and I created a new company recently where I teach men and women how to start businesses, replace their salary, quit their corporate job, and kick ass in life.
It’s an amazing new adventure and I love it.
