Courage is being scared to death and doing it anyway.

I used to be scared of heights.
Hell, who am I kidding… haha.
I’m still scared of heights.
I don’t want to die.

And… I took this course a few years ago where we climbed up a telephone pole, and jumped off from the top of it.
The pole was 100 foot tall. It was a long way down.

I remember my knees shaking, my heart pounding, my palms were sweaty, and it was hard to breathe.
I remember getting to the top of the pole.
I had to unattached my harness and re-attach it to a new harness.

Below me was a group of people I had met the day before.
We were all doing it together.
We had grown close. I trusted them.
They were cheering for me.
They were encouraging me.
I felt taken care of.
I trusted that they would let me safely to the ground if I jumped.

I took a breathe.

I chanted.
Don’t think.
Don’t think.
Don’t think.

And I jumped.
