Hi. I’m John Wayne Zimmerman.

With over 22 years of experience in building brands, I teach people how to get clear, live a life in alignment, and elevate their career using digital marketing and communication techniques. Six years ago, I quit my corporate job and stepped into my own marketing agency full time. My 6-figure income was fully replaced and I moved to a beach house in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. I wrote one of the first Facebook Marketing books and became a published author with Penguin Random House. I spoke at national and international conferences around the world. Alongside the Zimmerman Agency, I also run an executive coaching company where I personally mentor my clients – that’s what this site is all about.

I am passionate about creating, innovating and making a difference in the world. The service that lights me up the most is teaching people. I love to speak on stages. I love to mentor people.

Official Biography

I received a BA from the University of North Carolina in English, and an MBA from DePaul University in Marketing, and have done post graduate studies at MIT. I was a Brand Manager at ConAgra Brands, CEO of a garage startup called Kintech Software, and a Digital Marketing Director at Healthcare Financial Management. I also co-founded a marketing agency called The Zimmerman Agency and many side brands.

Some of the companies I have been able to work alongside and impact include:  GE, Four Seasons, Facebook, Google, Accenture, Hilton, Hyatt, Kohler, and Yamaha Motor. In the Non Profit world: American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Medical Association, Awana International, The National Association of Realtors, New York International Auto Show, Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Association, U.S. Travel Association and Willis Tower. In the realm of Celebrities and Influencers: Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Richie and Taylor Miller.

My days are spent consulting with companies on digital projects, building online or offline communities (from niche to groups in the millions) or coaching individuals in their careers. Integrity is my cornerstone. I am straight with my clients, my family, and my children. I mentor people that are up to big things in the world – people that are making a difference  – it’s very gratifying. My rewards are time with my family, a deeply spiritual life, and money that allows me to live the lifestyle I desire. I take my girls to school each morning. I take walks with my beautiful wife on the beach every week and we have date night every Wednesday. I live in the place I have always dreamed of – a beach town in California called Carmel-by-the-Sea — a total paradise. It’s absolutely amazing here. The temperature is 50s – 70s year round. I get to be outside every day. The ambience of the area is magic. It’s like an Italian village got relocated to the California coast. I get to wake up and go to sleep hearing the waves crashing. The sunsets are spectacular colors. We have dolphins, whales, seals and sea lions around us every week. The food and wine scene is amazing. People are laid back, quiet, and at peace here. There is amazing artwork, classic cars, and forest all around. There is a total comfort to living in a place that feels like I was always meant to be here. I highly recommend you find your paradise and seek it out.

I love to travel.
I’m blessed to have traveled around the world many times. I lived in Germany as a child in a military family. I’ve travelled to Vietnam many times to visit family. One of my most favorite destinations is Italy. Specifically, Cinque Terre. I love the magic of small European towns on the Sea. The places I have not been that I really want to visit are: Iceland, Ireland Finland, Switzerland, Greece, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Bhutan, Nepal, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, India, Bali, Guatemala, and Chile.

I love to workout and compete.
I’ve always been into sports. I played baseball and basketball a lot growing up. I competed in tennis in high school and became #12 in all of European DoDD schools. Now, I am into Triathlon. I’ve done over a dozen of them. It’s a total rush and challenge to the mind and body.

I love fast vehicles.
I’m a huge fan of sports cars and motorcycles. I sold my Audi TT when I moved to California and I bought a BMW S1000R sports bike. It’s fast. There is a certain degree of risk in life when you ride a motorcycle. I get that. And I would not have it any other way. When I ride my bike, I feel alive. I get the full experience moving at 120mph through the wind. There is nothing like it.

That is my story. If you like me, explore working with me and we’ll continue the journey.
